BS KINETICS ® Logo
As biggest housing with fold-out display the BS Kinetics, from Baden, Germany, has developed the Sonoran underwater housing. Originally developed for the Sony HC1000, the housing is for camcorders such as the Sony XR550. With a mass of only 3,1 kg and dimensions of 190*145*205 mm, it fits easily into any diving equipment luggage, and will give its owner unforgettable holiday pictures.

Panasonic, Sony, Canon or JVC cameras can be operated using its convenient controls.

Any of these cameras can be completely controlled using any number of the 12 available buttons. Mechanical controls can also be built in, upon request. Image control is as straightforward as looking at the camera´s fold-out viewfinder display.

The carbon fibre and epoxy resin composite material used, better known in Formula One and light aircraft manufacturing circles, has the strength of steel with all the advantages of plastic. It is rot proof, durable, and will not be damaged by sea water and UV rays. The underwater housing has a fixed inbuilt port with an M67 thread. This makes is possible to pre-fit ancillary lenses for either macro or wide-angle shots.

As with all underwater housings made by BS Kinetics, the front port is made of glass. It works well in water and, used in conjunction with an appropriate lighting system, ensures optimum diving fun and memorable underwater images. In addition to ancillary lenses, red filters, magenta filters, and lighting equipment are also available.
Another option is to connect the video signal to a signal transmission device, for which the housing can have another display connected to it. The AV signal, the HD(SDI) signal, or the HDMI signal can then be transmitted via a network signal. Live broadcasts, stage directions and observation or surveillance functions can all be carried out in this way.

Fitting the Camcorder inside the underwater housing is extremely easy. It is secured on a plate with its tripod screws.

The underwater housing has two secured quick release latches for efficient opening and closing of the underwater housing. One main O-ring seals the two halves of the housing. Thanks to innovative lip design, this O-ring does not need to be greased.

Low maintenance involves simple cleaning with water, after which the underwater housing can be simply and safely closed again.

Every single housing manufactured is tested to a standard immersion depth of 80 metres.  As with all underwater housings made by BS Kinetics, the tested immersion depth can be increased to 160 metres, without any additional weight gain or change in geometry to the housing being required.

Our underwater housings are distributed through various retail outlets. Housings are available for hire, and enquiries about these may be made at BS Kinetics. Accessories such as lights, light arms, and bags are also available.
